~ Description :Collectible handmade leather notebook, inspired by the Greek Revolution and dedicated to the Fermeli of the Evzonic Costume! High quality leather (cow leather) in tabac (brown tint) colour. It comes with a detachable notebook and pen. Its notebook is a 150-sheet, unlined paperback with a cover on Elle Erre Fabriano 220gsm paper while the body is on 85gsm chamois paper. sewn and glued (editions : Epi-hartou). Accompanying flyer: The Evzon costum is universally recognizable & is a symbol of levity, resistance and bravery, identified with the awakening of the national consciousness of the Greeks. It essentially appears with the liberation struggle of 1821 where the Fustanella is established as the official National clothing of all the leaders and fighters of the revolution. The fermeli is the most difficult and demanding part of the entire Euzonian costume and is characterized as a work of art. It is hand-embroidered, with designs from the rich Greek folklore tradition & takes a period of seven months to make. All costums are sewn and maintained by the civilian staff of the Presidential Guard and the workshops are located within the camp. The glorious action of the euzones was a catalyst, as a result of which the euzones received the image of heroes in the consciousness of the Greek people. Memorable event of 27.4.1941 As the German army was entering Athens, the Germans went up to the Acropolis and ordered the young Evzon who was guarding the flag, Konstantinos Koukidis, to take down the Greek flag and replace it with the swastika flag. The young soldier did so, but refused to surrender the Greek flag to the Germans. Instead he wrapped himself in it and fell from the Acropolis.
